Erwin Watkins and Simeon Whiteley worked for the Office of Indian Affairs in the 1870's and 1860's, respectively. Edward Parmelee Smith was ordained a pastor of the Congregational Church in 1856. From 1863-1866 he served as field agent and field secretary of the U.S. Christian Commission.
